www.scholastickids.com

This site would be used by 5th and up. There are books, authors and videos. The site was interesting and would keep there interest and help in the researching for book reports.

www.enchantedlearning.com/home.html

This was an interesting site. I liked that there are books that can be printed off. There are lessons on mapreading, wish I'd had that one in school. Also there are games to play, printouts and poems. The one drawback in that there is a $20 fee for the year.

www.kidsplace.com

a student can find book reviews, get magazine articles, play games, watch videos along with homework help. There is alot to this site, teachers should recommend it to their students.

www.ala.com

www.squiglysplayhouse.com

This is a great free site and could be used in the classroom or at home for entertainment. There are many games and no sign in. The kids would need no help to sign into this one and would become a favorite.

www.jumpstart.com

This is a pretty great site but you must log in or you can't get in, this was frustrating to me. If I wasn't just looking it would have been ok though if I used it alot. This site is an online virtual world, engaging and fun for the ages of 3-10. The goal is for this group to master school life and make it easier.

www.speakaboos.com

This site had stories that were told in song and voice reading. There is games and a lot of free stuff. However, you can only get a free 14 day trial. I did not like this as there are alot of sites that are free and this one didn't really hold my interest for long. There was also nothing to do while waiting for the story to load.

www.lessonplans4teachers.com/reading.php

The site is for teachers which helps with making up lesson plans per subjects. Teachers love the fact that they can produce awards and certificates for free. There are also lesson plan templates.

www.teachnology.com/teachers/lessonplans/languagearts/reading/

A helpful site to a teacher although there is a $30 fee each year to download the worrksheet library. The printables are for math, reading comprehension, writing, english and vocabulary. This would take a lot of work off a teacher for classroom materials.

www.funbrain.com/brain/ReadingBrain/ReadingBriar.com

This site  rocks and would allow kids to explore with games, web books and movie reviews. The teachers can do quiz labs, use special banners that are provided and allow for grade levels to play. This would be very useful in the classroom.

www.pbskids.com

What a great useful site, colorful, musical, interactive, choices of video's or games with sounds. Teacher can develop professfully and plan how to teach the kids and keep them learning. There are mobile downloads. When I went to the game area, even though I didn't sign in as a child might not it wasn't disappointing, it just let me play the game!

www.readingrockets.org

Teachers, parents and librarians would find this site helpful. There are video's, books and authors and reading guides. The teacher can get news of real writing contests for the students.

This is a very fun, cool site. The students can go in one area and get homework help, take self grading vocab tests in case a parent can't help at the moment. There are flashcards. There is a teacher site that is wonderful and would make teaching so much easier in planning. There is a free on-line tools to practice using reading, speling, writing and vocabulary help, worksheets, color sheets. I would recommend this site to all new teachers for sure.

www.tumblebbooks.com

This site is read with the adult reading along while using the computer or with ear phones the child can hear the story being read or read along as the text is highlighted as the story proceeds. I think that I might use this site for a child who is bored and maybe misbehaving in the classroom to enlighten learning in a different venue.

www.CGtkidsAtlas.com

This site offers information on Canada from grade 1through high school whre you can read, watch videos look at maps, play games related to the topic, fast facts and look at what interests them.  This gives lesson plans by subject and we can choose the grade that is wanted with this information.
